SEAMLESS DESK – 2012
During the first year of my higher national diploma, our teachers made us work on a special project with “Seamless” theme, including many constraints:
– Create a fitting which should be placed under a 1000 X 600 mm Ikea table top.
– Only use 22 mm x 22 mm wood sections.
– Never cut the wood in the length way.
After a brainstorming with our group, we decided to work on a process that already exists and that has been created by a Designer called Itamar Burstein.
This process consists in milling the wood to leave 2 mm thick remaining in order to bend the wood easily.
Then, a full piece of wood, which has been cut following the radius we wished is positioned. A special jig has been created to press them together for the gluing process.
Project made in collaboration with Camille Leclerc.
